Benjamin John “Ben” Metcalf, 49, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, after a long and difficult battle with heart failure. He was born on January 21, 1977, to Verna and Brian Metcalf and grew up in Princeton, Wisconsin, before moving around throughout his life.
Ben was a proud father to his only daughter, Kyriea Metcalf, who was the center of his world. He was endlessly proud of her and took great pride in watching her grow into the woman she is today. His love for his family extended beyond blood, and he was especially close with Ernie Krueger, Nicholas Adams, Margie Adams and Tray Adams, among many others who became family along the way.
Ben earned his bachelor’s degree and spent most of his career working in IT, where his intelligence and love for computers could shine. He had a mind that was always working and a natural curiosity that followed him into many of his interests. He loved cars, computers, guitars, collecting things, and saltwater fish. He also loved giving gifts to the people he cared about—often finding something that reminded him of them simply because he wanted to make them smile.
Ben had a personality that was impossible to forget. He was sarcastic, stubborn, and absolutely knew how to be a smartass. But beneath all of that was a good man with a big heart. He loved deeply, gave generously, and cared about the people who mattered to him.
One of the greatest loves in Ben’s life was his daughter and her dog, Koda. Koda held a special place in his heart, and Ben’s love for him was just another reflection of how deeply he cared for those who became part of his family.
Some of Ben’s happiest memories were made doing the things he loved—going to Milwaukee Brewers games, talking about cars and computers, admiring guitars, and spending time with the people he loved. Every Christmas Eve, he looked forward to watching White Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life, a tradition that will continue to live on in his family.
Ben’s memory will be carried on by his daughter, Kyriea, his parents, Verna and Brian, and the many family members and friends—both blood and chosen—whose lives he touched.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of Ben’s adopted family and blood family who stood beside him and Kyriea through the difficult times. Kyriea would especially like to express her heartfelt gratitude to the Adams family and her Aunt Caitlin for everything they have done for both her and her dad. Their love, support, and unwavering presence have meant more than words can express, and they will forever hold a special place in her heart.
A celebration of Ben’s life will be held on January 21, 2027, his birthday. Additional details will be shared with family and friends as arrangements are finalized.
Ben was many things to many people: a father, a son, a friend, a collector, a computer guy, a car lover, a smartass, and sometimes an absolute pain in the ass. But most importantly, he was Ben, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of loving him.
